Intro is in 11/8 time, and repeats several times within the song; most of the song is in 6/8 time.
123 – 223 – 323 – 4-and- is how I count it easier in my head when drummin.
then 123-223-323-423 in my head to
then when SOMETIMES I FEEL starts, I count 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 since the drummin’s a little different here.
@RighteousWilly that ia 7/4 = 4 + 3, though a rhythm guitarist hits the quarter notes and never goes astray. Listen to the snare— how he drops.
“I went ape-fire” “I had a good time” and the guitar solo is 8/4, or two measures of 4/4— what’s to like is how the drummer keeps things fluid
@irvnz You need to check out “Tattooed Love Boys” by the Pretenders and, this time, you tell me what the odd time signature is, cause I’m trying to figure it.
Very good track. One of the best of all time IMO. So much heart and soul you can feel it! Duane was a brillant guitarist as the band in whole.. If Jesus Christ spoke, this is what it would sound like.
@RighteousWilly somewhere there is a Metallica song (Sanitarium?) in 10/8, and Money by Pink Floyd is 7/4.
Know any others?
If you do, let me know.. I am looking for more 5/4 stuff & how to drum it so it doesn’t sound like Desmond/Brubeck’s Take Five
Notice how the intro is 3-3-3-2 on the drums.
“Two Guns-Balls Out” was another talented band in the 70′s that was signed to Capricorn Records. Check out their music on youtube it is a sound of its own and considered a southern rock n roll classic!!!
